The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC) committee began with loud interruptions from the event next door, but this did not hinder the debate. The topic being discussed was the fight against cocaine trade in Latin America. The delegate from Columbia suggested a way to eliminate cocoa plants by using a chemical called glyphosate. Rebuttals to this statement were that by destroying the plants, ecosystems could be negatively affected. Other suggestions included a specialized police force to investigate drug farms. To deter people from growing cocaine, the delegates suggested increased prison sentences. To help drug addicts, rehabilitation programs were added to super-resolutions. The processing and selling of illegal drugs is a pressing issue in days society and the delegates of UNODC hope to come to a conclusion on the topic.
